There is this unusual feeling I always have as each year winds up. I can't quite explain it in details, however it is somewhat like that of a 'sweet' peace and 'serene' 'wholesome' love (Not sure of an easier way to put it). The climate change in this part of Africa is usually characterised by dryness and lots of wind that carries along with it plenty of dust. Then the heat that can be harsh most times. This doesn't sound like much of a season to enjoy, but for me, it always signals the imminence of Christmas, of yuletide. This is a day set apart by Christians all over the world to commemorate and celebrate the birth of the greatest man that ever lived.

It was in one of those remarkable and unique meetings, a teacher in the teenagers section of our church made statements that will remain indelible in my heart. She walked up the podium with the aim of conducting a review of the bible readings for the day. With face beaming with smiles and a composure telling of one who is certain of what she wanted to say, she threw her arms and hands in the air, exclaiming 'Oh the beauty and joy of heaven! A place of rest......’ She would go on and on of how she can’t wait to go home, to heaven.

Mathew 26:69-74:

"Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came to him, saying, "You also were with Jesus of Galilee." But he denied it before them all, saying, "I do not know what you are saying." And when he had gone out to the gateway, another girl saw him and said to those who were there, "This fellow also was with Jesus of Nazareth."  But again he denied with an oath, "I do not know the Man!" And a little later those who stood by came up and said to Peter, "Surely you also are one of them, for your speech betrays you." Then he began to curse and swear, saying, "I do not know the Man!" Immediately a rooster crowed."

There is a particular truth about our calling as Christians (children of God) that seems not to be discussed in the present day generation. The certainty that after one has been called by God unto salvation, such one gets imprinted by the very nature and character of God, as their relationship gets underway. The unmistakeable fact, that a reflection of God in all ramifications (especially in holiness) overwhelms every fabric of such Christians life. As long as a Christian is sincere and committed to the divine relationship with God, there need not be any advertisement, because such a life cannot be hidden and is very glaring for all to see.

One matter has been of great concern to me for several years now. It has been a puzzle to me why many young people who come from very respectable christian homes, fail to tow the line of the christian virtues they have been brought up with. These ones have enjoyed the privilege of knowing what daily morning devotions and quiet times consists, have attended revivals, retreats, conferences and camp meetings where the word of God were taught them. All that is required to mould one into a vibrant christian have been provided to such youths. They were also privileged to have restrictions placed on them as regards the kind of friends to associate with, movies to watch, songs to play e.t.c. So one is in serious bewilderment why  after all these investments, these same people grow up to lead lives that are in sharp contrast to the expectations.

My anchor Holds on Jesus

With a sober disposition that gripped me as we were concluding the day's Bible study, I waited for a bike that will take me home, singing to myself this hymn:

I have and still believe that it is more challenging during motherhood to bring up a baby from the cradle into maturity, than it is during child birth. This is especially when the emphasis is not only on the physical growth, but also on the moral, spiritual and intellectual maturity. This is also very much true for 'spiritual mothers' entrusted with the mandate of nurturing into maturity, the babes they brought into the family of God.

If not for calvary,
Unending becomes the plight of man.
Had it not been for calvary,
We all will resign to our hopeless fate,
In a world of ceaseless tragedies.
All Media News Daily bearing witness.

But Calvary brought succour,
At Calvary, Hope was delivered,
A rest assured for all that will beleive,
A victory finalized over death and sin,
A peace guaranteed amidst the tumult,
Unfathomable, the gains are at Calvary.

Why desert this undeserved gesture,
Which Christ by his death wrought?
How possible not to acknowledge,
The greatest sacrifice ever made?
Why reject the hope for LIFE and GLORY,
When all around speaks DEATH and SHAME?

Calvary beckons again today!
As ceaselessly it had in the past.
Will you Accept the Price that Jesus Paid?
And Enjoy the REST that follows.
Surrender your all at his feet,
Joining the saints in singing HALLELUYAH!

"WILL YOU ALSO GO.......?"

"WILL YOU ALSO GO.......?"
I have always known that the choice to walk with God is one that is both personal and unconnected to every other persons' choices/decisions. It is a commitment borne out of personal conviction and resolution, regardless of what the public opinion and disposition may be. I have always known this ever since I made the decision to take upon myself the yoke of living for God. However, not too long ago, I had cause to cry (deeply within my heart) when God confronted me with the question: 'will you also go..?'. What prompted the question? The voice was that of an emotionally downcast saviour, wanting to know once again my stand. "Will you also go?", it echoed again and again.

The greatest need of this generation, is the coming into manifestation, sons of God with an innate Power to bring deliverance to this ailing world. The creation has for long been crying out in desperation, in dire need of a panacea to its salvation. Though not willingly, but the powers at work in this world  have held men in bondage, resulting in a cry out for help. Make no mistake about it, though things MAY appear to be in order, yet there is never a time in history where men's heart has craved more for redemption than now.
